Ahh, Joel, Schumacher. Has he ever made a great film? The answer to that question is no, he hasn't. Ok, maybe I be being going a bit overboard. His early work was great, like The Lost Boys, A Time To Kill, and Falling Down. And then he had a small slump, which lasted about 15 years. After such atrocities as Batman and Robin, Bad Company, The Number 23 and last years Twelve, Mr. Schumacher has overstayed his welcome.
4. Zach Galifianakis
Now, Zach is on the verge of overstaying his welcome. I was first introduced to Zach in 2001s Out Cold where he gets his d•ck caught in the jet of a jacuzzi. But he didn't hit mainstream until his boyish, immature antics hit the big screen in 2009s Hangover. He was hilarious and audiences, including myself, wanted to see more of him. But you should always be careful what you wish for. Due Date and Hangover 2 just made me irritated of seeing him grace the big screen. Him playing an overgrown man-child grew tiring. However, he can try to redeem himself if he takes more roles like Bobby in It's Kind of a Funny Story.
3. Kevin Smith
Kevin Smith is or was one of my favorite directors. He wrote and directed such great independent films as Clerks, Dogma, and of course Chasing Amy. He has a great ear for dialog and knows how to direct his actors; everyone in Chasing Amy are believable, which invests you more into the story. He has directed bad films in the past but it wasn't until Cop Out in 2010 when I realized something I refused to see in the past, he is a douche. He kept spitting out excuses after excuses as to why the film was horrible. He couldn't admit it was his fault that he made a bad movie. To add to that, he made a huge fuss over that airline because they said he was too fat and need to buy two seats. He didn't let it down for a long time.
2. Adam Sandler
No one has been more guilty of releasing the dumbest sh•t in recent memory than anyone on this list. Adam Sandler, the alum from SNL, has been making classic comedic films since the 90s with Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and Big Daddy; though some of those films could be considered awful to some people. He began flexing his dramatic muscle in Punch Drunk Love and didn't stop there, he starred in Spanglish and one of the best films of 2007, Reign Over Me. But then he made films that should never be seen ever again, except maybe this:
Bedtime Stories, Zohan, Grown Ups, Just Go With It, Chuck and Larry, and based on the trailer itself, Jack and Jill just proves that Mr. Sandler isn't making quality films that he used to make. Adam Sandler, I'm sad to say, needs to retire.
1. M. Night Shyamalan
It's a bit cliche but Shyamalamadingdong needs to go and leave us alone. Once a promising writer-director, he shocked audiences in 1999 with The Sixth Sense and was even nominated for 6 Oscars including best picture and best director. Things were looking up for him. As if though his career was a roller coaster ride, his films after Sixth Sense went downhill. . Unbreakable was his next film and wasn't as strong as his previous, Signs was okay, The Village was bad, Lady in the Water was horrible and just when you thought you've seen his worst, The Happening comes out and you want to scratch out your eyes. But wait, The Last Airbender is released and fans of the series wore jumpsuits and drank cyanid cherry kool-aid.* It's sad to see someone hit a wall after becoming one of America's most promising directors over ten years ago. He has to go and soon.
Who would like to see go away?
*did not actually happen.
